With the 2024-25 TOPPS Merlin UEFA Club Competitions Soccer Cards, Topps is releasing a collection long anticipated by many collectors just before the end of the year. As early as mid-November, collectors will have the chance to secure one of the boxes through a pre-order at Topps.
Description
Much later than in previous years, Topps is bringing the Merlin collection for the European club competitions of the season 2024/25 – which already ended six months ago – to collectors.
For this magically inspired collection in the classic look of the iconic British brand from the 1980s, Topps promises a mystical treasure chamber filled with the best rookies, the most experienced veterans and the most unforgettable legends from the three competitions UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League.
Even though the Merlin collections always omit the term Chrome in their titles, collectors can still expect cards featuring the typical Topps Chrome finish, including the SuperFractor design on the coveted One-of-One cards.
Base Cards
The 200-card base set is the most extensive ever in a Topps UCC Merlin collection and is therefore one third larger than in previous years. Compared with the debut edition from the 2020/21 season, it has now even reached double the size.
Parallels
Topps has not yet released any information on the parallels. However, the preview images already suggest a colorful rainbow of parallel variants.
Insert Cards
This year’s inserts offer a mix of familiar and new categories. Returning are Ageless Alchemy, Mystic Nights and the distinctive Merlin’s Gamers Insert Cards.
New additions for the 24/25 season include the Elite Society Inserts and several other categories whose names Topps still has to reveal.
Autograph Cards
Among the highly coveted autograph cards of the collection are the base autographs, the new and particularly rare European Knights Autographs, and the Sorcerers Autographs already known from last year.
In addition, the cross-collection Marks of Excellence On-Card Autographs are included, which Topps has also added to the boxes of the 2024-25 TOPPS Merlin UEFA Club Competitions Soccer Cards collection.
Autograph Relic Cards
A true classic of the Merlin collections are the Matchball Signature Relics, which once again make their appearance in the current season’s Merlin collection. In addition to the signature of a star player, these cards feature embedded match balls from games of the European club competitions.
Availability
The release date announced by Topps for 2024-25 TOPPS Merlin UEFA Club Competitions Soccer Cards is Friday, the 19th of December 2025.
Collectors will have an initial chance to secure one of the coveted Merlin boxes on 17 November, when Topps will offer a limited quantity for pre-sale in its own online shop. Those who miss out on that date will have another opportunity on the official release day, or can purchase the boxes from their trusted sportscards retailer from that point onward.
