Description
Topps’ sixth Platinum release is the first to feature a female star of the beautiful game. Following the Platinum releases dedicated to Jude Bellingham, Jack Grealish, Jamal Musiala and two sets featuring legendary Portuguese coach José Mourinho (UCC & UEFA Euro), the spotlight now turns to Spain’s top star Aitana Bonmatí.
To create the 2023-24 TOPPS Platinum UEFA Women’s Champions League Aitana Bonmatí Curated Set Soccer Cards, Topps met with the 2023 FIFA Women’s Player of the Year and spoke with her about her earliest football memories, her childhood idols and some of the greatest moments and achievements of her career.
These conversations resulted in exclusive quotes that have been incorporated into the text on the backs of the cards. Aitana Bonmatí also played a decisive role in choosing the design of the cards.
Base Cards
Topps has divided the 71-card base set, made up entirely of foil cards, into 8 different themed categories:
Compañeras (teammates at FC Barcelona), Estrellas de la UWCL, featuring the top players from the 2023/24 UEFA Women’s Champions League season, Talentos del futuro, featuring rising talents, Ídolos de fútbol, featuring Bonmatí’s idols, Rivales más duras, featuring some of her toughest rivals, Playmakers, featuring some of the UWCL’s best playmakers, Pioneras, featuring players who have been shaping women’s football for years, and Mejores Momentos, featuring some of the milestones from the exceptionally successful career so far of last year’s Ballon d’Or winner.
Parallels
Collectors can look forward to 6 parallel variants in this collection, numbered /99 (Green) or lower. The remaining numbering levels are Blue /49, Purple /25, Red /10, Pink /5 and Gold 1/1.
Autograph Cards
Each Aitana Bonmatí Platinum Curated Set box contains 1 autograph card from one of the stars featured in this collection, including Ada Hegerberg, Alexia Putellas, Fridolina Rolfö, Sam Kerr and Wendie Renard, among others. The autograph cards also feature four legendary stars from men’s football, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Pep Guardiola and Xavi Hernández. Another highlight is the two dual autograph cards, which feature Bonmatí’s signature alongside that of either Andrés Iniesta or Alexia Putellas.
Especially lucky collectors may also come across on-card autographs from Aitana Bonmatí, randomly distributed by Topps across all boxes. Unlike the usual and widely available sticker autograph cards, Aitana Bonmatí has signed directly on the trading card itself, making it an even more sought-after collectible for many fans. However, Topps has not provided any information about the odds of finding one of these cards.
Availability
Among the 30 cards in each Aitana Bonmatí Curated Set box, spread across 6 packs containing 5 cards each, are 2 parallels numbered /99 or lower. As usual, Topps reserves the right not to offer every numbering level for every card.
The release date announced by Topps for 2023-24 TOPPS Platinum Aitana Bonmatí Curated Set UEFA Women’s Champions League Soccer Cards is Wednesday, the 17th of July 2024.
Topps will initially offer the 2023-24 TOPPS Platinum Aitana Bonmatí Curated Set boxes exclusively through its own online shops in Europe. Once Topps ships the boxes, which is expected to happen around 4 to 6 weeks later, they will also be available from retailers specializing in trading cards.
