Much earlier than in the previous year, fans of Germany’s top division can look forward this season to the Bundesliga Chrome collection. In mid-June, the 2023-24 TOPPS Chrome Bundesliga Soccer Cards will be released and, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Bundesliga, come with several special highlights.
Description
This season, Topps is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Bundesliga together with the DFL. Collectors can therefore look forward in the collections of the current season not only to the current stars, but also to numerous legends from the past six decades.
Naturally, the 2023-24 TOPPS Chrome Bundesliga Soccer collection does not pass up this anniversary and has been equipped by Topps with several Cards specifically dedicated to this occasion.
Base Cards
The BASE SET of the collection consists, as in previous years, once again of 100 Cards featuring current stars of the 18 Bundesliga clubs and the most promising Rookies of the current class.
Parallels
Compared to last season, Topps has increased the number of Parallel variants by 4, including the /399 numbered version, which returns to the boxes after a one-year break. Apparently, Topps expects significantly higher demand for this anniversary collection, as the new Parallel variants will considerably increase the overall print run of the collection.
New additions also include the unnumbered Aqua Prizm and Pulsar Parallels, the /299 numbered Purple Wave Parallels and the /60 numbered Bundesliga 60 Years Parallels. This variant introduced especially for the league’s anniversary is complemented by an unnumbered Gold Bundesliga 60 Years variant, which can only be found in Blaster Boxes.
Insert Cards
There have also been several changes among the Insert Sets. Only the traditional TOP XI category has been carried over from last year. New this year are the 1963 TOPPS Insert Cards, which take collectors back to the first year of the Bundesliga with a historic design.
The TIME TRAVELERS bring some of the greatest legends of the Bundesliga to collectors, while the ULTRABEAM Inserts include the rising stars. Added to this are the TITANS with the gladiators of the league, as well as the particularly rare HOBBY MASTERS and the super limited Let’s go! Inserts.
Exclusive to the Blaster Boxes of the collection are the LEGENDARY PLAYER/UNICUM Inserts, which present some of the most unique players in the history of the Bundesliga.
Autograph Cards
In addition to the BASE AUTOGRAPH Cards, collectors can once again find the popular DUAL- or TRIPLE AUTOGRAPH Cards in their Chrome Bundesliga 23/24 boxes this year. They are joined by thematic autograph cards from 4 of the total seven Insert categories.
Relic Cards
Topps has integrated two special types of Relic Cards into the collection. The Derbystar Double Ball Relics, which can only be found in Blaster Boxes, contain 2 pieces of an official ball used in Bundesliga matches. Particularly lucky collectors may find in their packs one of 100 different Diamond Anniversary Base Relic Cards, each numbered 1/1 and adorned by Topps with a real diamond.
Autograph Relic Cards
The Ball Relic Cards are also available as Derbystar Double Ball Autograph Relics in a version with the autograph of a Bundesliga star. These are also exclusive to the Blaster Boxes.
Availability
The Hobby Boxes of the 2023-24 TOPPS Chrome Bundesliga collection have once again received this year the familiar configuration from the previous year with 20 packs containing 4 Cards each, complemented by one Anniversary Pack per box on the occasion of the league’s 60th anniversary. Only from this Anniversary Pack can the 1963 TOPPS Insert Cards and Autograph Cards be pulled.
The Blaster Boxes contain 28 Cards distributed across 7 packs with 4 Cards each. Only from them can the Legendary Player/Unicum Inserts and Autograph Cards as well as the Derbystar Double Ball Relics and their autograph variant be pulled.
The release date announced by Topps for 2023-24 TOPPS Chrome Bundesliga Soccer Cards is Wednesday, the 19th of June 2024.
The boxes will be available from that date via the Topps website or from retailers specializing in sportscards.
