Description
Topps’ now established practice of following up a Chrome collection with a Sapphire Edition shortly afterwards also extends to its tennis cards. Fans of the sport with the yellow felt ball can therefore look forward to the typically bright blue cards of the 2024 TOPPS Chrome Sapphire Edition Tennis Cards collection, which Topps offers as an online-exclusive product available only through its own online shop.
Base Cards
In the Tennis Sapphire Edition 2024, Topps mirrors the complete 200-card Base Set from the main Chrome collection, meaning that all players can also be found in the Sapphire Edition with identical card numbers.
Parallels
According to Topps, every box contains 4 numbered Parallel cards in the typical Sapphire colors. These start with Green numbered to /125 and continue through Gold (/50), Orange (/25), Purple (/10) and Red (/5) to the Padparadscha Parallels (1/1), which exist only once per card and can only be found in the Sapphire Editions.
Insert Cards
The complete absence of Insert Sets, on the other hand, comes as something of a surprise. Traditionally, Sapphire Editions are somewhat more selective with Insert cards than the main collection and usually carry over only 1-2 of these themed categories. The fact that no Sapphire Insert cards at all made it into the collection is therefore rather unusual.
Autograph Cards
The situation is different with the Autograph cards. With the exception of Carlos Gimeno Valero, all players who already had an Autograph card in the Chrome collection can also be found in the Sapphire Edition. Topps guarantees 1 Autograph card in the Sapphire look per 2024 Topps Chrome Sapphire Edition Tennis Cards box.
Availability
The release date announced by Topps for 2024 TOPPS Chrome Sapphire Edition Tennis Cards is Wednesday, the 4th of September 2024.
From that date, the boxes are available through the Topps online shop or from retailers specializing in sports cards.
