Description

Inspired by volcanic glass, the Obsidian series is entering its seventh soccer season and presents collectors with an international selection of stars from the 2025/26 season on the familiar stylish black Opti-Chrome cards.

Each Hobby Box from the 2025-26 PANINI Obsidian Soccer Cards collection contains 1 pack with 7 cards, 4 of which are Autograph, Relic or Autograph Relic cards.

Base Cards

The collection’s BASE SET includes 200 cards featuring players from 21 different club teams, making it almost twice as large as the previous year’s edition. One characteristic of Obsidian collections is that even the Base Cards in the standard version are numbered. Each of these cards is numbered to /169, further emphasising the collection’s limited print run.

Parallels

Obsidian’s distinctive dark aesthetic is transformed into a colourful collecting experience by 17 different Electric Etch Parallel variants. New this year are the Electric Etch Caldera Parallels numbered to /25, which can be found exclusively in the collection’s Hobby Boxes. The Electric Etch Contra Parallels change from a numbered version to the collection’s only unnumbered variant. An Electric Etch Contra Parallel will now be considered a Case Hit and can be found on average in every 12th box.

Insert Cards

For the Insert categories, Panini relies on categories already known from previous years. More commonly found in the packs and available in 11 Parallel variants are the EQUINOX, NUCLEUS, ORBITAL and SUPERNOVA Inserts.

The popular BLACK COLOR BLAST, IRIDESCENT and WHITE NIGHT Insert Cards are significantly rarer and positioned in the Case Hit range.

Autograph Cards

Among the 7 Autograph Card categories, collectors familiar with previous Obsidian collections can discover several new additions. The two established categories LIGHTNING STRIKE SIGNATURES and MAGMATIC SIGNATURES are joined by 5 new categories, COSMIC STORM SIGNATURES, SCORCHED SIGNATURES, SEISMIC SIGNATURES, TWILIGHT SIGNATURES and FIRE AND ICE DUAL AUTOGRAPHS.

Relic Cards

Collectors are on more familiar ground with the Relic Cards. This season once again features the 6 categories known from previous years, ATOMIC MATERIAL, CUTTING EDGE, ERUPTION, GALAXY GEAR, SOLAR SWATCHES and TRIFECTA MATERIAL, which contain 1 to 3 pieces of the players’ jerseys embedded in the cards, depending on the category.

Autograph Relic Cards

Panini also relies on established concepts for the Autograph Relic Cards. With DUAL JERSEY INK, MATRIX MATERIAL AUTOGRAPHS and VOLCANIC MATERIAL SIGNATURES, collectors will find the three familiar categories that combine an autograph and a jersey piece in one trading card.

Availability

Each Hobby Box from the collection contains 1 pack with 7 cards. According to Panini, these should always include 4 Autograph, Relic or Autograph Relic cards as well as at least one Parallel card.

Another planned product format is the Hobby International Boxes, which will be released slightly later and exclusively include the Red Flood, Red Crystal and Red Pulsar Parallels.

The release date announced by Panini for 2025-26 PANINI Obsidian Soccer Cards is Friday, the 24th of July 2026. Short-term changes to this date are possible at any time and should be taken into account.

From that date, the boxes will be available from the Panini America online shop or from retailers specialising in sportscards.
