The 2025-26 TOPPS Merlin Premier League Soccer Cards bring the nostalgia of the 90s back to England’s top league. Fans of the Premier League teams can look forward to 1 autograph card from current stars and notable legends per hobby box.
Description
With the 2025-26 TOPPS Merlin Premier League Soccer Cards, Topps brings its traditional English brand back to the Premier League. Collectors can expect a collection in which a nostalgic fantasy design from the 90s meets modern cards with a Chrome finish.
Base Cards
The BASE SET of the collection includes a total of 200 cards featuring current stars and some of the most promising young players from the 20 league teams.
Parallels
For these cards, Topps has produced 24 parallel variations, of which 5 are unnumbered and the others are numbered to /250 or lower. A special variation of this collection are the Battle of Britpop parallels numbered to /95, which reference the rivalry between the two English bands Blur and Oasis during the peak of Britpop.
Insert Cards
Collectors can look forward to 13 thematically distinct insert sets, inspired by the wizardry and magic that have always shaped the design of the Merlin brand.
Among the cards more frequently found in packs are the 4 categories defined by Topps as common inserts, FANTASY FOOTBALL, MERLIN SPEAKS, MYSTIC AFTERNOONS and YOUNG MAGICIANS. For these, as with previous Premier League releases for the 2025/26 season, Topps leaves collectors uncertain about the exact pack odds and only provides a combined rate for all 4 categories:
- Standard Version – 9 per Box (Hobby), 3 per Box (Blaster)
- Gold – /50 – 1:220 packs (Hobby), 1:707 packs (Blaster)
- Orange – /25 – 1:480 packs (Hobby), 1:1,145 packs (Blaster)
- Black – /10 – 1:1.066 packs (Hobby), 1:3,837 packs (Blaster)
- Red – /5 – 1:2.598 packs (Hobby), 1:5,094 packs (Blaster)
- SuperFractor – 1/1 – 1:11,691 packs (Hobby), 1:36,064 packs (Blaster)
Exclusively found in Blaster boxes are the RAINBOW FLICK inserts known from the Topps team sets and the new TA-DA! cards. The MYTHICAL ART inserts, on the other hand, are reserved for buyers of a hobby box.
Significantly rarer in packs are the cards from the remaining 6 insert categories, including the brand’s traditional and particularly popular RENAISSANCE inserts among collectors, as well as the sparkling THE SHINY cards.
Autograph Cards
In addition to the 80 different BASE AUTOGRAPH cards in the collection, another 60 autographs, spread across 4 thematic categories, are waiting to be discovered by collectors. Particularly notable hits are the SPELLBINDING TRIOS, which combine 3 signatures from players of the same club on one card.
Autograph Relic Cards
A staple of Merlin collections by now are the MATCH BALL SIGNATURE RELIC CARDS, which combine a piece of an official match ball with a player’s signature in a single collectible card.
Availability
Each hobby box of the Merlin Premier League 2026 collection contains 72 cards, distributed across 18 packs with 4 cards each. According to Topps, every box guarantees 1 autograph card.
The more affordable Value Blaster boxes include, among the 28 cards contained, 1 numbered parallel card per box as well as exclusive insert and parallel cards.
The release date announced by Topps for 2025-26 TOPPS Merlin Premier League Soccer Cards is Thursday, the 28th of May 2026. Short-term changes to this date are possible at any time and should be taken into account.
From that point on, the boxes will be available in the Topps online shop or from retailers specializing in sports cards. In an initial pre-sale phase, Topps already offered the boxes on April 28 for interested collectors.
