For the first time, Topps is releasing a Fan Set for Portuguese top club Benfica. In 2024-25 TOPPS SL Benfica Official Fan Set Soccer Cards boxes, fans of the Águias can find numbered parallels and, with a bit of luck, Autograph Cards featuring stars and legends of the club.

Description
With another new addition, Topps enters the third year of the Fan Set series. In the Fan Set series, which is designed primarily for newcomers to the hobby, five sets dedicated to top European clubs are released simultaneously shortly before the end of November. Just a few days earlier, the Fan Set for Spanish giants Real Madrid had already been released as the first Fan Set of the current season.
Alongside the 2024-25 TOPPS SL Benfica Official Fan Set Soccer Cards, which mark the first Fan Set dedicated to the team from the Portuguese capital, sets for Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona and FC Red Bull Salzburg are launching at the same time. Fan Sets for Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and FC Bayern München have also been announced for December.
As an affordable entry-level option, the Topps Fan Sets serve as the precursor to the Team Sets released a little later. These sit in the next higher price bracket, usually offer slightly more extensive contents and a higher chance of Autograph Cards, and in some cases also include Memorabilia Cards.
Base Cards
All Fan Sets for the 2024/25 season use an identical design, which is slightly customized with the respective club colors. At the heart of each Fan Set is a 20-card Base Set containing the key players from the squad for the current season.
Parallels
Topps has not provided any more detailed information about the parallels and leaves collectors completely in the dark as to which numbered variants can be found in the boxes.
Insert Cards
The Benfica Fan Set is expanded by four insert categories, providing more cards to collect. These include the Golden Future Inserts featuring up-and-coming young players, already familiar from last year’s Fan Sets, and the Golden Treasures, which are available as One-of-One cards and exist only once per player across the entire print run. New this season are the Fanatic Fans & Monolith Inserts.
Autograph Cards
Especially lucky collectors will find another foil card in their boxes alongside the two parallels, featuring an autograph from one of the current top stars or a legend of Os Encarnados. However, Topps does not provide any further information about how frequently Autograph Cards appear in 2024-25 TOPPS SL Benfica Official Fan Set boxes.
Availability
A box of the SL Benfica 2024/25 Fan Set contains a total of 28 cards in one prepacked pack. In addition to a colorful mix of Base and Insert cards, the pack also contains the two Parallel Cards guaranteed in every 2024-25 TOPPS Benfica Fan Set Box, one of which is always a non-numbered Electro Parallel and the other a numbered Parallel Card.
The release date announced by Topps for 2024-25 TOPPS SL Benfica Official Fan Set Soccer Cards is Friday, the 22nd of November 2024.
