Description
With the 2026 Topps Inception Football collection, a familiar Topps brand returns as an NFL product for the first time since 2015, after Topps had already released an unlicensed edition for the 2024 season. Inception also sticks to its characteristic, heavily graphic look for football cards, featuring abstract backgrounds, bold colors and a comparatively premium card feel. The main focus is clearly on the 2026 rookie class, complemented by established NFL stars.
Alongside familiar Inception elements such as Launch, Inception Silver Signings and various Rookie and Patch Autographs, Topps expands the 2026 lineup with several new parallel and autograph variants. Immersion Autographs and Charged Particles Autographs also bring two concepts from the Inception Baseball line to football for the first time.
Base Cards
The collection’s BASE SET consists of 200 cards, divided into 150 Veterans and 50 Rookie Cards. Visually, Topps stays true to the Inception line, showing the players against abstract, brightly colored backgrounds.
Parallels
The parallels are expanded with two new variants. Gold Electricity is numbered to /50 and uses a metallic looking beam effect in the background. The new Hot-Pink parallel is also limited to 35 copies.
Insert Cards
The LAUNCH inserts already featured in the 2024 edition return again in 2026. They are joined by the only other insert category in the collection, the ROOKIE SHORT PRINTS.
Autograph Cards
A large part of the collection naturally consists of autograph cards. The ROOKIE AUTOGRAPHS pick up the design of the rookie base cards and add the signature of the respective player. Fans can look forward to cards featuring Ty Simpson, Caleb Downs, Fernando Mendoza and more than 40 other players from the current rookie class.
New to Inception Football are the CHARGED PARTICLES AUTOGRAPHS and IMMERSION AUTOGRAPHS, both of which have already appeared in Inception Baseball. Soccer card collectors will also already know the Immersion Autographs from earlier Inception releases by Topps.
The DUAL ROOKIE AUTOGRAPHS combine two rookies from the same team on one card, such as Carson Beck and Jeremiyah Love of the Arizona Cardinals.
Other returning Inception series include the Silver Signings, where players have signed with metallic ink on a black background. According to Topps, the rare 1/1 versions of these cards may feature additional inscriptions.
Autograph Relic Cards
Among the more eye catching cards featuring memorabilia are the ROOKIE JUMBO RELIC AUTOGRAPHS. They combine a large piece of player-worn memorabilia with an autograph, making them some of the key rookie hits in the collection.
Availability
Each Hobby Box in the collection contains 1 pack with 7 cards, including 1 Autograph Card.
Another product format, the First Day Issue Box (FDI Box), will be released ahead of the official release date and features an exclusive Patch Autograph Card numbered to /22 as a special highlight, as well as two FDI exclusive parallel cards numbered to /18.
Interested collectors can preorder one of the Hobby Boxes on the Topps website on 05 October.
A specific release date has not yet been announced and will be added here once confirmed.
From that point onward, the boxes will be available from the Topps online shop or from retailers specializing in sports cards.
